First time poster here...just wanted to know if anyone knows how readily available positions are for ER nurses on the Gulf coast? Considering moving to Florida from Indiana in a few years. Not eager to move to a big city, but a place like Destin might be nice....or Indian Rocks. Got loads of critical care experience. Anyone in the know?

As a registered nurse, I know I'm always being recruited to all over FLA. Its not hard to find RN jobs anywhere, from my experience. I'm sure you can easily find a hospital website from the Destin area and easily find out what's available. Seems like Traveling Nurse Corps always promote places like Destin, too.

Thanks, BucFan, for the reply. We have a couple of 'sister' hospitals in that part of Florida. Only see one ER job, though. I wish I could twitch my nose and already be there, acclimated, employed and never had to face this crummy snow an ice in Indiana again!

Destin is a pretty pricey area.
It seems like the hospitals around here are always hiring but it may not be specifically for ER nurses. I wouldn't think it would be too hard to find a nursing job in the area.

The hospitals within 20 miles of Destin are:

Sacred Heart of the Emerald Coast (Sandestin)
Twin Cities Hospital (Niceville)
Fort Walton Beach Medical Center (Fort Walton Beach)
