Words do not cause injury. Grabbing somebodys property and throwing at them or throwing a cell phone at someone can cause injury and is a good sign of further attack to be forthcoming.

He had the gun on him legally.

Other than that does a senior citizen have no rights to be in public?

the man did not get shot over texting. He got shot because he was physically attacking someone.

Your thinking would be valid if Reeves shot Oulson when the was texting and didnt stop.

Bitching because someone is texting in a movie theater during the preview? SERIOUSLY?
Shooting someone over texting in a theater and possibly having popcorn of all thing thrown in his face? REALLY?

This guy is going to die in a cage. To live 60+ years only to die in a cage, because some youngster wouldn't put away his phone and ya thought you could make some sort of statement. Now his grandkids wont be able to see "grandpa" because he couldn't control his temper, and perhaps because the family was missing some hints that it was time to put him in a home.

Apparently he had a run in with another individual before this.

Very true and if this course of action had been followed Poulsen may not have been shot.
However did Steeves politely lean over and politely ask Poulsen to wrap up his texting or did he lean over and say in a belligerent voice turn off the f--king cell phone a-- hole and when Poulson didnt comply immediately did he then go on a hissy fit? or was Poulson the guy who was the rude obnoxious escalator of an unneeded altercation and took exception to Steeves demand/request.

Good questions all. The trial should provide some answers.

A, NICELY ask the guy to refrain from using the cell phone
B, Move to another seat, in looking at the film there were many others to choose from.
C, Go to the theater management and let them handle it.
Sorry there is no way to justify killing someone as payment for a person being rude. If you feel otherwise possibly you might need some help yourself.

I guess you are intentionally not looking at the cause of action.

A. He did (as far as we know) but he was ignored (wife said so).
B. Oulsen should have moved to another seat so he could text all he wanted with out bothering
anyone else.
C: Reees did go to theater management.

Oulson did not get shot for being rude. He got shot because he
a. threw a cell phone at reeves
b. grabbed reeves personal property (the popcorn) and threw it at him
c. continued in an aggreesive manner after that even though it was only a few seconds
between the popcorn and the shot.

Words cause injury all the time ... how many kids have committed suicide because of bullying words ?

Your words in a previous post were ... "Reeves came back and was verbally and physically attacked". How do you know Reeves did not verbally attack Oulson ? How do you know what Reeves actually said to Oulson ? How do you Reeves didn't tell Oulson that "I'm gonna f--ing kill you if you don't put that cell phone away ?" Maybe Reeves insulted Oulson's wife ...

You don't know because you weren't there and neither was I or anyone else posting on this topic.

Let's wait for all of the facts to come out ... and where is the evidence that an expensive IPhone was thrown at Reeves ?

Reeves is a hothead. Look at how he talked to his own wife, that is a good indication of he talks. He didn't politely lean over and say "excuse me sir could you please turn off your cell phone".

His quack lawyer says flashes on the screen are a thrown cell phone. He's grabbing at straws. There are distinct "flashes" of light throughout the shooting video. Even when Reeves returns after whining to management there is a clear flash of light at this feet as he's entering the aisle....lol, I guess Reeves had a cell phone on his shoe then, according to his lawyer.

No, he should have gone out to the lobby.
