Those that smoke pot couldnt care less about Amendment 2, they will continue to smoke pot no matter which way the vote goes.
About the only thing this amendment will do if passed is change some wording on laws pertaining to the medical use of pot.Pot will still be easily available for those who want to partake of the stuff.

And that is fine. As long as pot is kept underground and out of public I fully support decriminalization.

I just got back from being in Denver and after my experiences there I will NEVER support the legalization of marijuana. The stoners were everywhere and it was impossible to get away from disgusting pot stench. I do not want Florida to turn into that.

The results of this upcoming vote will change nothing, if you arent smelling pot smoke now in your daily routine you wont be smelling it after the vote no matter which way it goes.

GIve it 50 years and it will probably be like Amsterdam. People will treat it like normal. Right now it's still "new"

I am voting Yes and cant understand any justification for voting no. Smoking or eating marijuana/THC will not kill you. Alcohol kills. Oxy kills. Cigarettes kill. All legal! There were some excellent points on this thread and I hope everyone will vote and get this approved.

I grow tobacco plants in my yard, neighbors grow poppies and I can grow the deadliest vine in Florida- it is all legal. Why is it illegal for me to plant some hemp and make biofuels out of it? The medical marijuana amendment does not legalize hemp but at least it takes some power away from the medical cartel and the police state. As mentioned above, some people EAT cannabis foods which are often good for you The federal law needs to be repealed and cannabis given the same standing as tobacco. Go ahead and ban pot smoking or make it like a traffic offense. However, end the nonsense that a plant is illegal.

Hopefully first time voters like me will come out In full force like they should to support this amendment so we can get to tackling more important matters in our prisons systems.

Congrats on voting your first time! Please stop by the "I Voted" thread to describe your experience of voting (it's a non-partisan thread, just about the voting experience), if you haven't already! The important thing is that Floridians vote in large numbers for their voices to be heard, regardless of what we all believe. An apathetic constituency is the surest way to put power in the hands of an apathetic political body - which is no good for any of us!

Thanks to those who didn't vote for helping us come in 2% shy of what we needed. Polls mean absolutely nothing. Apathy gets you nowhere in life, and in politics. As long as old wealthy conservatives continue to come out en force in Florida, and the younger and minority votes continue to hang out at home, this is how things are decided in our state. At least a message has probably been sent to seek this out again in the future. I may not be alive then, but somebody else in pain will be.
