Okay let me try to be as brief as I can.

Hi, I retired and moved from NYC to Melbourne, Fl (moved twice in Melbourne)....and then to St. Petersburg, Fl. where I now live in a 55+ newly built apartment bldg. It's nice....new is always nice....Rent is real good... $570 mo.....(I'd like to stay in this rent amount if possible or up to 650).......but I'm sick of all these crazy old people that live here and I NEED outdoor space (patio, balcony, something)....and I want to live closer to the beach if possible..1 mile..2 miles...just closer....need washer/dryer and/or hookup...and possibly a swimming pool....near stores, malls..etc. I'm not driving yet...so I need to be able to walk to stores....

I thought when I moved here to the South I was going to be in a tropical wonderful place....but all I've been is disappointed...and btw...I'm a 59 yr old Black woman who prefer to live in a mixed neighborhood with all types of people, all races, ethnicities, faiths, artists, writers, artsy, friendly, working, retired, whatever...as long as they are nice and it's a safe place to live......I'm tired of moving, please help.....any suggestions???? St. Pete is cool....but any other suggestions would be helpful....THANK YOU!!!

I don't mean to sound rude, but what did you expect for $570/month??? That won't even get you a bathtub in NYC.

Your budget is way too low given your desire to be close to the beach, outdoor space, walkability to services and washer/dryer or hookups. I would recommend checking out a roommate finder service online where you can be matched with someone of similar personality and wind up in a nicer place to live within your budget.

Now Florida isn't THAT cheap. You're going to have to pay more than that to get what you want.

You're already near to the beach. For that rent, you're not going to get any closer.

I pay a 1000 month for a two bedroom high rise apartment in a building in downtown Lexington Kentucky LMAO. 600 a month won't get you anything in most states or cities unless you have a roommate and share expenses.

$570 will not rent you anything in South Florida.

I would suggest you stay put.

I agree with everyone here - OP you are ALREADY doing great. I suggest you stop your whining and be grateful for what you have. How about you try to make friends or at least get along with "all the crazy old people".....

You might be able to find a trailer in one of those 55+ trailer parks for some $600 or so...
