Not to belabor your point but ANY well traveled highway is going to look like your photo when seen through a telephoto lens.

When we moved to Florida in 82 my job was covering the entire State of Florida, so I got to see every part of it, north to south. SW Florida, IMO , is simply so much nicer than a lot of the other parts of the State. You could not pay me enough to live in the Miami area, or Tampa, and the Panhandle is too much like another State altogether. Orlando was too congested.

I know every area has it's pluses and minuses, but this one is where I feel most comfortable.

Don, as a Florida native, I could not agree more! We live in Sarasota, and I feel lucky to live here. I love everything from St. Pete on down on the Gulf Coast.

Exactly! some ppl never seem to understand this. if they get tired of the cold, is stands to reason that they will also get tired of the heat. thats why a place with 4 mild seasons is a better long term option.

Re: tired of heat, not necessarily. Assuming AC is affordable and available, it's less likely that you'll get impacted by weather in FL during the summer than NY in the winter. Yes, hurricanes are statistically likely at some point, but in the NE nearly every winter there will be either snowstorms closing the roads, or your driveway getting snowed/plowed in that requires an hour+ of digging or blowing.

This doesn't mean that FL is a panacea, but that some of the reasons of being "tired of the cold" have nothing to do with the temperature.

I am so glad I made that choice before it was too late.
