I live in St Petersburg, and can't stand the place. It's too overdeveloped, has to much traffic, too many people, and doesn't feel southern. I just want to make sure before I make the move, that Citrus County won't turn into another Pinellas. I love North Florida, but if it's eventually going to get overdeveloped and lose it's southern feel, I might move to Georgia instead.

Citrus County isn't really very "Southern" as it has a good number of transplants from the Northeast. Have you considered Tallahassee?

I live in Citrus County and while yes, there are definitely lots of transplants, it still feels somewhat southern to me. More so than other parts of the state. I have family down in the Holiday/Tarpon area and we are always bummed by the traffic. So happy to come back up here and enjoy the open roads. I'm sure part of it is how rural our county is compared to other parts. Lots of open space, but we like that. But this being Florida, there are transplants everywhere. Growing up I spent time in Georgia, as that is where my family is from. So stopping to buy boiled peanuts on the side of the road, or stopping at our local farmer's market (which is run by Citrus County natives) reminds me of those days.
