I wanted to connect with other snowbirds and get a few opinions. I recently saw an article about a company called NestFiller. Let me start by saying the only reason it caught my eye is because as I know all of us face everyday retirement is expensive, it's that simple. If they can help me earn a few bucks, I figure why not.

What they do is fill the home I let sit empty all winter in New York through a website called Airbnb. I know some of my friends have actually used Airbnb when they travel, some like, some dislike, it's an interesting business to say the least, but Airbnb is letting people stay in people's home in exchange for payment just like a hotel. It must be cheaper than a hotel, but I guess some people are liking it.

This NestFiller company seems to handle most of the heavy lifting. Once I'm listed I can still enjoy my time but the entire process scares me a bit.

Airbnb is great, but I wouldn't go as far as allowing someone else/another company do all the hard work for you.

Why not offer your winter home to all the people on here who regularly opine about how much they hate Florida and can't wait to get out ? There's plenty of them !

But seriously have you considered home exchange -there are a number of companies specialising in this.

It could go both ways. You might get wonderful people who are neat, clean and responsible, or you might get the tenants from hell. You should, at the very least, run background checks on people who will be living in your home. It's very hard to know, since I think it's a good idea, but also risky.

The problem is that the OP only wants to rent his home when he is in Florida. Most people don't want to travel north in the winter.
