The state of Florida is going to be laying off a lot of state employees due to the Admendment one that passed. Might be hard to get on right now until the state figures out where all the new tax monies are coming from. I know a lot of nervous State employees right now.

They will probably replace a lot of career employees with OPS and/or volunteers like they usually do when times are tighter than usual.

Check out http://www.floridahousing.org They are sometimes looking for accountants. They are in Tallahassee and are technically an instrumemtality of the State, but the employees are not state employees and have much better benefits and pay. They are also immune to state budget cuts (they actually have been getting more funding while other agencies are being cut).

I've been thinking of looking for a county or local job, just because I can't find a job anywhere else. I have skills that might be useful to a government, but I'm worried Ammendment 1 will put a freeze or hiring.

I've also considered the Post Office.
