What do you think would have changed in America if the federal government chose to annex Cuba

The Cubans might have a thing or two to say about that.

The rest of the world would have something to say about it. Not that it would happen.

Looks like people, as per usual, don't read.

I assume from "What do you think would have changed in America" you mean if it would have happened way back when.

I think it would be very similar to Puerto Rico and have become a territory.

I agree. And when was the last time or era has America ever got any good immigrants anymore? Good as in hard working, motivated, willing to assimilate, willing to improve their lives and speak english types of immigrants?

At one point the Itallians, Portuguese, Germans etc were all the Blacks and hispanics. They lived in ghettos and were looked down upon.

Believe it or not, the Hispanics have a similar crime rate to whites (despite being poorer) and overall integrate quite well. Given a good number of them are doing it without social security numbers and other major impediments they seem to be doing a pretty good job.

I bet if I take away your SSN number the results of your life would be quite different as your opportunities would be very different.

As someone that has an inlaw who recently went through the immigration process I'm also very aware of how assbackwards it is and how difficult it can be. Even for affluent, white person from Canada that hires expensive lawyers and has tons of time and money to spend on the process.

Anyway, point is, we have plenty of good immigrants. Many of them better than people that have been here for much longer and on top of that doing it with handicaps. Our immigration process is a total cluster and needs a complete rewrite. Until then, no surprise people come in as they do and I don't really blame them one bit. Legalize them so they can be taxed and afforded the same opportunities as all the people born here that squander that privileged.

You can thank a lot of them when you eat your meals every day. If it weren't for them you wouldn't have much of what you consume.

Willing to assimilate? More are than you want to believe. It's people like you that rally against them and force them into darkness.

Your perception is flawed and your opinions depend truly on where you live. Have you lived in Doral? El Paso? Soutgate? I think it's easy for liberals to sit back in their La-z-boy and play Monday Morning Quarterbacking. Perhaps living in the real help might help you because being a realist has changed my life, not only for the better, but it has helped me view the world as it truly is without rose colored glasses. Educate yourself please.
