Does anyone have a suggestion on places to live in Florida that have low priced homes and low priced living costs?

For someone retired and on a low fixed income.

A mobile home maybe. Low priced living costs and FL dont mix. Wish I could tell you where but I can tell you where it is not Palm Beach County.

There are many affordable area. What is your price range?

There are 2 bedroom homes in my area for $80,000-$90,000. Some even less but needing some work.
You could also get a manufactured home in the $40,000-$50,000 range but they will be older and thus needing repairs often.

Sun City Center near Ruskin is a great area for retirees. You can find a small villa from $50-60K (very small) and up. Got to be over +55 (or be married to someone who is over 55). Lots of social events, clubs - with fitness centers, pools, etc. I'm not very sure what the monthly association fee is, though.

If your'e over 55, there are a lot of senior places in St Pete, Sarasota, and Bradenton - condo type of places. Not sure what the assoc fees are, though.

Good luck. FLA is no longer a cheap place to live.

You may be better off in Texas, Mississippi, or Georgia.

They are the state affordable housing finance agency, and they finance a lot of affordable single-family homes all over the state.

The northwest area of the state has affordable housing. Prices have dropped and is becoming affordable again. Best advice do your research and ask what you want up front. The market in the state is saturated, therefore is a buyers market.

This are entry level homes that are available.

Check out North Port and Cape Coral both in SW Florida. Dramatic drops in home prices due to being ground zero for the speculative bubble of 2004-05. You can rent new 3/2/2 homes for $800/month to see if you like the area first..

As Sunrico posted there are affordable places in the Panhandle.
Milton, Pace, Cantonment are all smaller towns surrounding or close to Pensacola so you get the best of both worlds there - smaller towns near a larger one. Definately give North West Florida a looksie. I'd recommend you try Crestview also. Depends also on what is important to you.

I looked over some MLS listings for Milton. The prices are quite interesting.
I found three areas with lower priced land: around the Moors and around Garcon Point bridge, or near Wars Basin Road. Which one do you think it is better?

I want to build a house for my own use in the medium future.

Thank you.
