I would say $1500 (minimum) per month for a 2br/2ba.

Thanks so much for all the information. Gulfport sounds pretty ideal. We were also looking in the Ormond/Port Orange and more south to the Cocoa Beach area.

We would prefer to find a city/town first, then find a job. I realize this might be difficult, but we would rather find a home than move around a lot...we've done that enough up here. Trying to get settled.

Problem with topics like this one is we can recommend places but you may not agree and end up moving to a place you end up hating.
My suggestions=
St Augustine,
Flagler Beach
Jupiter
Western St Pete,Gulfport being my choice.

Around Cocoa Beach you might find towns like Melbourne Beach or Satellite Beach good options as either isn't overly crowded/congested and beachside allow for walk-friendly/bike-friendly neighborhoods to get around in for grocery stores/shops/restaurants.

Ever thought of a smaller beach town like Destin or 30A?

Destin is nice, except when the traffic is full of visitors. That usually only impacts Ft Walton and downtown Destin and the balance of the area is nice and not that crowded.

But right now it's great. I've lived in Destin for years and while the traffic sucks during tourist season, it's worth it.

Ormond on the Beach is not walkable at all and neither is Cocoa Beach. You can buy an oceanfront condo and walk to the beach, but that is where walkability stops. Cocoa Beach and Ormond are great if you want a community of old retirees and young crack heads followed by chain restaurants and frozen seafood restaurants that get their catch of the day from a processing plant in middle America.

You could look into Miami Beach, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and maybe Clearwater, St. Pete.

St Augustine or Jacksonville Beaches.. Close to Jacksonville easy commute to beach but it feels a world away from suburbia. Florida Coastal School of Law is here so lots of new attorneys being churned out so make sure job is secured

Vero Beach. We moved here in April 2016 after many years in south Florida. The job market leaves a lot to be desired; however, check it out. It took me three visits to realize this is our forever home. We still go back to the Weston-Ft Lauderdale area on a regular basis.
