is there something people in florida dont understand about a hurricane? you must leave. you had a crash course of what will happen by watching houston and some people are still like "im good here, we have supplies" even after the governor said "get out!"

last sunday was the perfect day, pack up at your leisure, get gas with no wait and drive like 6 hours north to be completely out of the path at some hotel.

now its armageddon down there, no gas, no water, home depot is out of wood.

even the rich people with the means to get out are staying.

this is going to be bad.

I wish people would stop comparing this to Houston. This is nothing like Houston. That storm was slow, so super slow for a hurricane. This storm is typically fast. In Houston, the storm stopped its northward trek and went back south to grab more moisture from the gulf. This storm isn't stopping, isn't backing up. The rainfall estimates for Houston were for large amounts - because it was slow, because it wasn't going to make it up north out of the state, because it was expected (and did) go back south into the gulf.

This is a BAD storm but for totally different reasons - it's fast, and large and is going to remain a Cat 3 even by the time it heads out of the state. But it's NOT HOUSTON.

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT DWIGHT. This will be a faster moving system so local rainfall amounts won't be anything like the TX storm norm.

Yup, this won't be harvey, but the wind will be a b*tch. Those in concrete block homes with shutters should be ok. If you are framed or in a mobile home, get out

What is wrong with a few of you guys? - OPs thread is simple - DON'T PANIC. That's it, that's all, it's not complex, it references threads on hurricane prepareration. Evacuate if told to and take proper precautions. It doesn't say relax, it says stay calm.

OK I am going to call some of you out - Acealive1 and Bronston and JamesBond (how opposite your namesake is to your attitude by the way) - what's your counter message? - PANIC, it will help?

Don't panic, that's all.

LOL

Accurate. I couldn't believe what I read. "Watch a few minutes of weather and then go watch something else." No. Not when you are in the path of a Cat 5 heading right at you.

You should be prepping while you have electricity to do so.
