Clearly you have never had a family member had their house burn down from a fire caused by lightning (Miami 2004). Oh yes, it's very very "relaxing" to have to move into a motel for a year while your house gets rebuilt from lightning-caused fire.

And clearly you have never had a neighbor's house swallowed up by the ground (Ocala 2012).

By the way, Orange County (Orlando) is one of the top most sinkhole prone counties in Florida.

This is all so incredibly relaxing, I think I just fell asleep!

Why don't you go ask all the people in south and central Florida who lost their homes to Hurricane Irma how relaxed they are?
I was in port richey in 2016 and never saw any hail dale. Lived here longer than anyone and never saw hail but 3 times and all pea size. Never had a cane bother me yet since 1963. Just blow bys but nothing over 70mph. Even the no name storm had more wind in 1993. We have about the most boring weather one can dream of heather. Months without rain , not enough canes at all very little lightning were i live on the gulf in west Pasco. I love rough weather and wished we had some every month. I could be happy with a cat 1 cane every month.

Tornadoes and sink holes will pretty much NEVER effect you - I have lived in central florida for 34 years and it has not once been an issue. I kind of find it funny that florida has that reputation though. Hurricanes: you will probably only have 1 that really comes your way every 3 or 4 years, and even then, you are so far inland that it will only effect you in that you may lose power for a few days because a branch fell during sort of high winds or something.

Your biggest issue will be lightning, (and even that is not much of an "issue"). Thunderstorms mainly happen only during the summer months and often the summer is just rainy, not a ton of lightning really. I mean, lightning DOES happen, but I have only known 2 people here my whole life that ever had lightning actually strike so close to their home that there was property damage. They were still safe.

Florida is a pretty good state as far as all that goes. Personally, I'd be more terrified of living in California with the earthquakes if I was going to pick a natural disaster/state to be afraid of. Just my two cents.

Yep checked with a builder in FL near the coast (Central) and asked what damage was done (8 miles from the coast) he said, palm fronds down, tree limbs down and they ah to chase the porta potties down.

Visited 2 weeks later and a couple of trees out of about 1000 in the area and 1 home with a tarp over it was all we found in the area except on the bay where a few docks were damaged. My wife quit worrying about hurricanes.

Anywhere in north FL or the Panhandle. Ocala is the farthest south I'll consider

Agree with North Captiva. If I could find a way to make a living out there I’d move in a heartbeat. Unfortunately there is nothing there. It’s one of its main draws but also what keeps me away.
