I am interested in moving to the Southeast Georgia or Northeast Florida area.

I have read that homeowner's insurance is cheaper near Duvall County than the other coastal areas of Florida. Does anyone from this area care to share the cost of their homeowner's insurance? I am interested in being an hour Or less from the coast a buying a home around$125,000 or less.

I would love to have suggestions of affordable areas anywhere in Florida somewhat near the coast.

Thank you very much.

It will vary a lot based on the age of the home. Anything built after 2001 will automatically get discounts based on increased hurricane standards. It can be as low as $600 a year or as high as $2000. Your deductible also impacts the premium. You can select anything from $500 to 10% of the value of your property as a deductible.

Also, when you get into rural properties and acreage the distance you are from a fire hydrant and fire station actually can have more impact on your total premium than hurricane.

Best thing you can do is buy a new or newer home in an inland county close to a fire station.
