What you all think about this article?

As Florida's business advocate for more than 139,000 member businesses and 3 million employees, the Florida Chamber is very aware of how important accessible and affordable air travel is to the citizens of our state. This issue is in the forefront with the recent news of US Airways' proposed takeover of Delta Air Lines. At the heart of the issue is competition and future employment.

If Delta's service were eliminated, this takeover could result in a loss of nearly 5,000 jobs and have a $10 billion negative statewide economic impact. The Florida Chamber is committed to furthering economic growth and ensuring that we keep and create high-wage jobs in our state. Join us in supporting economic development and healthy competition in the airline industry. The Florida Chamber urges caution and diligence to ensure that more competition, more routes, more jobs and lower rates are the result of the proposal.

Southwest has already been sniffing around Panama City, also the airport in Okaloosa County. They visited a few weeks ago.
There has been opposition against the new airport in PC but it sounds like it is going to happen--of course it will take years to complete.
I really like Bigdipp's suggestion about Cuba, though the easing of those travel restrictions that might not happen during this administration.

If the government removes the restrictions on Cuba, the main hub will be Miami, Orlando and Atlanta, due to the customs requirements. Our small towns will not be affected that much. We do need a large airport for our region so we can have affortable airline prices. We are paying an additonal $40 to $75 per ticket just to get to a major hub...
