Collier county seems to have a 0.69% property tax rate.

Why do people say property tax is high in FL?

Because there are other counties that are a lot higher than that. Collier, Walton and Okaloosa among others have a higher value amount of taxable property per capita- lots of very high value real estate where you can tax at a lower rate and still generate enough to fund the fire department .

I’m in Okaloosa where the property tax rate is relatively low because the second home condo towers along the Gulf generate enough in property taxes so that the 200k of us who live here year round pay less. If we lived in adjacent Santa Rosa County, which doesn’t have nearly as many of those kinds of high value properties, we’d pay something like twice as much in property taxes on a similar home.

Isn’t Seaside along Santa Rosa Beach full of multimillion dollar homes?

And the rest of Santa Rosa Beach is in Walton County as well. Santa Rosa County's beach area is Navarre Beach. Fort Walton Beach is in Okaloosa County, and there's also a Miramar Beach in Walton County far away from from South Florida's city of Miramar.

So yeah, city/county names don't always sync up well up here.
