Look at the employment numbers and the unemployment numbers. In addition tax receipts give an indication and Florida has the largest tax surplus in it's history.

So... clearly the answer is yes.

I wonder what business application per-capita would look like?

I know FLA has sightly more residents than NY, but FLA has 2x the biz applications...very telling...very bad for NY's future.

I think some of FLA's might be Ian related. Companies from elsewhere, had to register to become FLA contractors, prior to doing any work here.

I'd like to see a longer time horizon to balance out the Ian effect.

The surplus doesn't do any good by sitting there other than funding DeSantis escapades like flying immigrants out of TX to MA. The state didn't expand Medicaid so the uninsured have a great time of things when health care is needed, ranks 48th for teacher pay and unemployment pays out a laughable maximum of 12 weeks/$3300 regardless of prior salary. But thank goodness for the 21.8 billion dollar surplus. Clearly the state government really cares about its residents...

That's BS and you're stuck in it, apparently up to your neck.

SURPLUSIt's invested and not in anything related to the CCP. It help Ian recovery when FEMA denied funds. Read some FACTS about the surplus https://www.flgov.com/2022/07/07/gov...-year-2021-22/

TEACHERS;Governor Ron DeSantis announced $800 million in this year’s budget to raise minimum teacher pay and increase veteran teacher salaries in Florida. The $800 million is a $250 million increase over last year’s funding, and brings Florida’s investments in teacher pay to greater than $2 billion since the 2020 Legislative Session. In 2020, the average starting salary for a teacher in Florida was $40,000 (26th in the nation), and with today’s funding, it will now be at least $47,000 (9th in the nation).

“Over the last three years, we have worked hard to increase teacher pay,” said Governor Ron DeSantis. “We have invested more than $2 billion in teacher pay, and with rising inflation, this could not come at a better time. This will help Florida to recruit and retain great teachers.

MEDICAIDFlorida Department of Children and Families officials said in a statement released Wednesday that they are working with the Agency for Health Care Administration, community partners and other state agencies to begin an effort to reach out to current Medicaid enrollees, emphasizing the importance of providing current contact information so they can be reached.

“To those groups creating unnecessary panic by insinuating that Florida is not prepared, we can assure you that the department is prepared,” the statement says. “There is a plan in place.”

Glad this guy, Dave, is on my team...great post below...thx for saving me the time. I hope you dont mind me adding....

Florida's schools are well ranked by US News & World Report. Prep level is 26th, higher ed ranked 1st.

Vey good rankings considering NO state income tax. FLA also has a huge surplus, & people moving here in droves. Can you show me a better state educationally and fiscally?

If its not broke, dont fix it.

Well we know the type of poster who just wants to shout down anyone they disagree with and not use any facts at all.
