Hi Everyone:
In March my husband and I visited the Crystal River and Homosassa area for the first time and absolutely fell in love with it. We looked at real estate for sale and found a mobile home community that would work for us and our dog (Labrador Retriever). We talked to a lot of people while we were there and the overwhelming response from them was “We love it here”.
I would love to hear from others what they think. What is good/bad about the area, medical services available, weather issues, etc. We would be snowbirds for a while before making any decisions about a permanent move.
Thank You for any info you can pass on.

It's a nice area. One thing to keep in mind with a mobile home is that hurricane evacuation is real. I've had a friend come stay with me because his park was under mandatory evacuation.

Flooding can be problematic if closer to the water, of course.

There is a hospital in Crystal River. It's a smaller hospital, Seven Rivers. There are a few south of Homosassa, but further than I'd want them to be if I were older.

I live a little south of there but am in Citrus County often for work.

I suppose as snowbirds it could be fine but otherwise I wouldn't want to be living there full-time, especially as senior citizens with likely need of quality medical care at some point. There's also not a ton of shopping options beyond the basics, so there's that as well. Have you explored other options? If not, I would suggest it.
