No, but it sounds awesome! Isn't Everglades City south of Miami - just before you start the long trek into the keys? Too far for a day jaunt for me, unfortunately.

actually, i was going to post that yes, i've been to this event in the late 70s, but the more i thought about it what i went to was the Wild Hog Festival, i think! it was in everglades city - i recall eating some incredibly good crab legs and some absolutely delicious wild hog. i'd never eaten wild hog before, but it was far better than any pork i'd ever eaten. it was a fun, folksy event with live music and boat rides.

i dare say anything today would be overattended and maybe even expensive but i'd love to hear if anyone else has a more recent experience with the seafood festival.

Its in the middle of the alley. Its on the Naples side and west of Miami. north of the keys.

Yep, been there lotsa times.....it's fun depending on what you like......it's hot and crowded, with expensive, greasy seafood. But there's good music, good people watching and a nice craft area. I guess it's a fun day trip.

I was there seven years ago. It was nice. I was pregnant. VERY pregnant. Lots of people pushing. Some guy jumped in front of me in line. I told him to, "Get in his SUV and ride." You know. You can count on me. Didn't phase him. He snickered at me and still made sure he got his food before me.

Still, we found the Everglades Rod & Gun Club on the grounds, nearby. Beautiful part of old Florida. Five presidents have visited and also John Wayne and Ernest Hemingway. It was an incredible oasis.

That's Florida, if you can get beyond the riff-raff, there are some parts of Florida worth visiting that have not been bulldozed.

Anyone looking for old Florida should visit Everglades City.
