Well it is still hot here. I have lived here since I was six years old. You would think I would be used to the heat by now. It rained today a little and we had cloud cover this cooled things a bit. I love a natural steam bath in Florida. After it rains you feel like you're in a sauna.

Some people love those kinds of high temps with high humidity, others like me start sweating when the temps get over 75 degrees which i guess is more to do with the humidity than the temperature.I had to move a bit further north to get away from the unrelenting heat and humidity of Florida.

It's actually been as hot (or hotter) in the Northeast U.S. I live in Philadelphia (for now, moving to FL this fall) and we've had average highs since early June of around 90 and 4 or 5 days where it went over 100.
I can't wait to get down to FL, at least there's a coastal breeze where I'm going!

With the humidity down here I've seen a couple days heat indexs get to 109 this summer... They don't call it the sunshine state for nothing

I'm enjoying the summer here - temps where I live near the coast in Manatee County have been mostly high 80's, some low 90's but we almost always get a nice breeze from the water which makes it quite pleasant. Inland states don't get that and it's much hotter. There have only been a handful of days where I thought it was too hot and sticky. Overall, for me summers here are pretty nice and I can't complain about it at all.

The whole it's been hotter up her than Florida lately argument doesn't work for me,sure it's been very hot up there, but in 2 months when we're still baking in the 80's and 90's you guys will be in the 50's,60's and 70's.That's my biggest problem with the heat, that it lasts SO LONG,when you guys are in the 40's to the 60's in April we're already sweating in the mid to upper 80's and it's 7 months until we start seeing a break from it.

It takes a while to get with the program. I used to go out in the heat of the day and do yard work and curse. Now I know enough to plot and plan my outside activities between early morn and dusk.

I do appreciate the cool down in the winter here in FL (hope this winter is just like last year!), but the heat this time of year makes it all the better to enjoy the beach and the pool! I LOVE summer in FL, sooooooo much to do in and around the water! Now, if I were working as a roofer, lawn maintainance person or construction worker I know my tone would be different. I personally don't know how those folks survive day after day and yeah, in other places too, not just FL!

I wish my pool was enjoyable this time of year, its so warm, almost like bath tub temps. So not very refreshing. If I had a screen, it would be cooler.

When I lived in FL the heat didn't bother me that much. I guess I knew it was going to be like that, so I accepted it. My thyroid was also off, though.

But the "it's hotter up here, right now" stuff is wrong. People look at the temps, and even the humidity percentage and think it is the same. It is not.

It's the DEW POINT.

When I lived in Florida, I traveled to Chattanooga and it was the same temp and humidity level. Yet, it felt so much worse in Fort Myers, FL. And it was very comfortable in Chattanooga. I didn't understand.

Then I learned about the DEW POINT.

When we travel down to Florida, just south of Tampa is where it really hits you, coming down I-75. It feels like a wall of water and when you walk it is just like swimming underwater.

You just don't get those crazy dew point numbers up north.

Here's the chart:

Higher than 80 °F Severely high. Even deadly for asthma related illnesses 65% and higher

75 - 80 °F Extremely uncomfortable, fairly oppressive 62%

70 - 74 °F Very humid, quite uncomfortable 52% - 60%

65 - 69 °F Somewhat uncomfortable for most people at upper edge 44% - 52%

60 - 64 °F OK for most, but all perceive the humidity at upper edge 37% - 46%

55 - 59 °F Comfortable 38% - 41%

50 - 54 °F Very comfortable 31% - 37%

<49 °F A bit dry for some 30%

Like I said, the heat won't bother everyone. But to those that think it is going to be the same as up north, think again. Yes, the duration is very long. Even that bothered me, after awhile. But the dew point can easily do you in, especially the further south in Florida that you go.
