Well if we luck out and dont get hurricanes for a few years, things should look better, if not watch out!

Let hope that we don't, but our area homeowner insurance still lower than central & south Florida.

Yes, unfortunately they mentioned that in the Orlando Sentinel. The article said that if it's a bad hurricane season, "All bets are off." BUT it may be a very nice year and it's also possible that Fla. will never again have the horrific hurricane season it did a couple of years ago. `

So if that is the case, does that mean the huge increase that was slated for this year will still go through... and then a reduction will happen the following year???

Anybody know this?
If you are with Citizens and are scheduled to renew later this year, your rates are, at the very worst, frozen at 2006 levels. The increases scheduled for the high-risk pool this year, which would have doubled premiums in most cases, have been repealed.

If you are with a private insurer, it's my understanding that if you are paying a premium before rate cuts are in place, you eventually will receive a refund. It might be best to check with your insurer to find out exactly how this will work.

Question Aid won't be used to repair houses

This does not make sense Although thousands of hurricane-ravaged Florida homes still need roofs, a $100-million federal grant that could have helped repair them will mostly support a state effort to prepare undamaged houses for future storms.

Emergency declared as 33 Broward schools need fast roof repairs. The first declaration was made immediately after Hurricane Wilma, which struck in October 2005 as a Category 2 storm, to allow temporary fixes to district buildings. As of 17 Jan they still waiting for repairs....
