Just saw in the Orlando Sentinel that we are supposed to be down to 39 Sunday morning and 33 Monday Morning. I hope NOT....I don't want my plants to freeze!

I'll be down to get warmed up. It's 12 degrees here, but with windchill it's minus 10.

Take them indoors? I think they will be allright if there is no frost. Thats some unusual temperatures you are getting

Dont you have a coat thick enough to keep you warm? Cant you raise the heat to 60 to keep warm? How do people deal with that kind of cold? Ill be getting that when I move to a northern state

Thank you Pianogal, you just brightened my day reminding me that someday I'll be out of the cold winters.

NAH, I'm in my warm, heavy pajamas right now. We have our furnace set on 68 and it's ok because we don't have to go any place until tomorrow. The wind is howling and it'll probably be minus 20 with windchill by morning.

You can cover your plants with sheets once it gets to a prolonged freezing during the night. Don't cover with plastic although if you are really worried about your plants you can cover the sheet with a plastic to keep plants even warmer. Plastic can damage the leaves of your plants if it freezes. If you have hanging baskets or other potted plants, you can bring them indoors.

Thanks. We just planted some new plants in flower beds so can't bring them in. Our poor neighbors just brought home some new palm trees today. They haven't planted them yet, so I'm going to run over there and tell them in case they haven't heard the weather report.

The Orlando Sentinel currently has us at 31 Monday night but the weather channel has forecast 37...so I'm hoping the weather channel is right. I wouldn't care if it were not for my plants.

Back in the 80's when we had several cold winters, I lost all my ixoras and crotons and my hibiscus were severely cold damaged. Now I have alot of tropical plants such as Hawaiian Ti Plants, crotans, Lily of the Nile, bouganvilla, etc. that will die if it gets that cold.

time to break out the sheets
they are calling for the these temps up here in Jax
Monday morning low of 29
Tuesday morning low of 27

we had some frost on the cars and roofs this morning
hoping for a breeze which will help the frost from forming
if you give your gardens a really good soak tomorrow morning that will help hold in the heat.
the plastic over the sheets works but make sure to remove the plastic as soon as possible so you don't "cook" your plants once the sun comes out .
we should get some good pictures of what I call "garage sale explosion" once everone covers everything with sheets
