the economic downturn will..

1) bring down ridiculous real estate prices and cost of living in FL?
2) make it better for ordinary Floridians to live there?
3) cause undesirable elements to shuttle out of the state faster than palmetto bugs?

What do ya think, Floridians?
sound off!

hugs to all

I have already seen a serious exodus of both.

1) bring down ridiculous real estate prices and cost of living in FL?Prices of real estate and cost of living have to reduce in order for Florida to prosper. The wages in many parts of the state can not sustain these elevated prices.
2) make it better for ordinary Floridians to live there? This downturn will not be good for a state like Florida with such a lack of jobs with livable wages. Jobs continue to leave Florida and this trend will reduce wages further.
3) cause undesirable elements to shuttle out of the state faster than palmetto bugs? I believe many will leave Florida as they are now to look for cheaper real estate prices and better jobs. But I believe the undesirable elements will stay.

#3 has been happening for yrs now. unfortunately, they will stay and many of the natives will (as they have been) probably be leaving for greener pastures.

I think the prices are already ridiculously low, but that's because I already own real estate here and I've been watching the value plummet .

Though home prices have come way down, mortgages are harder to get. So it's kind of a catch-22 now and it might actually be harder for many people to get into homes than it was just a year or so ago.

And even though home prices have gone up and down, salaries haven't really budged. It seems to be getting more and more complicated and I would not wait in the sidelines long if you're waiting for the prices to go down further (unless you're buying for cash, then you have more options I suppose).

1) Florida has too much corruption for that to happen
2) Florida needs to stop relying on easy tourist handouts and start bringing industry here. Honest work for honest pay instead of milking tourists out of their money.
3) The undesirable elements will stay as they don't need jobs to survive (drug dealers, thieves, prostitutes, pimps, etc). Honest hard working people will go where the jobs are and the cost of living is lower.
