My wife loves the ocean, diving, and loves the blue waters of south Florida. I like big blue sky's, smart architecture, mass transit beyond buses and flying. There are no cities in the sky so i'll just follow where she goes.

So.... She is has been an elementary teacher for low income students for 6 years. I am currently in my second year of college and will be looking for a criminialist position in 2 years.

What area's should we check out?

Thanks

Best place to look??? The place where you can find a job. There aren't many available in Florida. Public service jobs are on the endangered list.

For Teachers, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties are looking at cutting jobs. I don't think the rest of the state is looking much better. Have her look at places that saw an increase in students this year, I think places in Martin County may have seen an increase in students (as Broward and Miami-Dades student counts are down), I could be wrong.

As for someone that is a Police officer, I now many of the cities in Miami-Dade and the county itself are always looking for more police people. But make sure you have a job before you move.

There is a hiring freeze on in the Lee County School District. Collier is hiring but only for one year contracts for new employees.

Miami is a terrible choice. The intelligence factor is non-existant in local government.

Right, I think most Florida counties (all?) are on a hiring freeze or have very few open positions. Here in NEFL, even though we've been building more schools to keep up with all the kids, getting a teaching position is very tough right now. Cities just don't have the money in the budgets .
