Hi I was thinking of applying at a job in Lake City but I read threads with pretty harsh things to say about Lake City. From it being "small" as in only having one WalMart to it being boring. Is there a "upbeat" area near by?

If I were to get a job there where, nearby, would you suggest I live with my kids? I read that also there are nice 2000+ sqft homes under 150k there, is this the only area like that?

Life is what you make of it.If you are young and want entertainment Lake City will not be for you.We are retired and have lived here 20 years.We would prefer the Lake City of 10 years ago,the influx of people from south Florida has not helped.The area has some very nice state parks and has easy access to interstate hiway's.There has been no retail growth at all,zero.It is now fairly crowded.The only employment is gov't or service for the most part and medical.The unsafe part will be the transient's coming off the interstate.Schools are taking a hit due to the economy.

Lake City is horrible, nothing but rednecks and small-minded people. there is nothing to do here either
