In my view, the biggest negative about southern/central Florida is that in the space of relatively few years, it went from being a low fixed cost state to a high fixed cost state.

Overall this may or may not be positive for the southern/central Florida economy and the general standard of living going forward: it will all depend on what combination of productivity and competitiveness, on the one hand, and a critical mass of very wealth rentiers, on the other, develops over the next years and decades.

In the meantime, at my level of income and wealth with respect to my saving and quality of life goals, I cannot compete and be that productive, so I am leaving, soon, like in a few weeks.
