Effective Sunday August 2nd, 2009 admission to Disney World will go up again. Adults will go from $75.00 to $79.00 and children 3 to 9 will go from $63.00 to $68.00 this is for a one day, one-park ticket. Prices for the theme parks multi-day packages will also rise.

For a family of 4 two adults two kids, it will be $294.00 just to get in the gate, add food, a snack or Mickey Mouse ears and your over $300.00 for one day not too many families can afford that on a regular basis.

Is parking extra? Our local amusement park is just over half the cost of Disney and parking is over $10.

My wife and I took my little nephew there a couple of years ago. Never again. It's simply too expensive.

LOL, though I live in Ohio, I have a lot of family in the Tampa/Clearwater area. I have been down off and on over the last 20+ years as an adult, but haven't been to Disney since 1977.

If you're wanting to go to the parks on a regular basis, while not cheap, there are some reasonably good prices for Florida residents on multiday and seasonal/annual passes:

MouseSavers.com - Disney World Ticket Discount Info - Save on DisneyWorld Tickets

Seasonal passes work out to about $1000 for a family of four. If you go to Disney 20 times over the year (evening fireworks, weekends, holidays not in the blackout period) you're down to a per family per visit cost of $50 per visit plus parking.

Everyone has different priorities for their entertainment dollars. If you live in central Florida and love the giant rat, you can make it work for the cost of a family to go to a couple of Magic, Lightning, or Bucs games or have season tickets for decent seats for a minor league baseball team.

Wow, $1K is a lot of money to me. I don't think that my entertainment expenses for an entire year would amount to this. Then again, I do wear the Tight wad badge with pride.

As I said, not cheap, but there is a way to visit the parks for 100 times every year (if you've got the time) for the cost of buying about three one day passes.

Better be careful what you say! There's a guy (probably a Disney stockholder) from NJ that about bit my head off in the Orlando forum when I complained about the outrageous Disney prices.

$300 for a family of 4 to just get into the doors to me sounds outrageous. Just because you know they are paying for hotel (lets say $100) and food (for all day lets a $100 thats being cheap) on top of that days price. So thats $500, for most families now a days thats a lot to spend for one day of their vacation.
