What do you think the reason is?

As a criminal who was unknown to me at the time told me, they like to move to areas where the weather is good because their career is based upon being basically lazy. Plus they want to be where there are people with money and vacationers tend to have money.

are you talking drug dealers or criminals?

I distinguish between the two because a drug dealer really has no effect on me. Whereas a thief or a violent criminal would.

we are the 4th most populous state in the nation with almost 19 million residents. You can add to that the tens of millions of tourists that come to our state every year and we are a target for crime.

Yes, I was talking a professional thief. I expect he may do drugs as part of the lazy lifestyle and maybe he was violent too I don't know. He went south for the season and north when it got too hot following the crowds. You'd be surprised what people I've merely said hello to tell me.

Florida is different in that so many people are from elsewhere. It's not like a community where everyone knows the town scoundrel and steers clear of him.

Tourism, high immigration and migration rates, climate (criminologists have shown that warmer climates and seasons have higher crime on average), and wealth disparity.

I dont think it is widespread across Florida. The Panhandle , by comparison to other parts of Florida, is most likely the lowest im willing to bet...and although you hear of crime here on the TV / Paper., its nowhere near as bad as in places like Miami or southern Florida (per 100,000 people).

The reason for crime in Florida ? Its the same reason it is for the Nation : People willfully suppressing their God-given moral conscience so they can live as they like . In fact, we all do this to some extent because it is the depravity of mankind (sin) .

The lack of a real solid middle class (more specifically in S. Florida). You are just either rich or poor. In both classes people get money hungry, greedy, angry, or are just plain lazy which result from one of the factors that drive the crime up.

Not true. When ranked nationally, the Florida cities that crack the top 100 or so safest places in America are cities located in "southern" Florida, such as Port St. Lucie, Coral Springs, Pembroke Pines, Boca and Davie, Coral Springs, etc. Even Hialeah outranks Tallahassee and Jacksonville:

http://www.cqpress.com/docs/City%203...Safest_14E.pdf

Indeed, Europe, with its godless society, is in general far safer in terms of violent crime as well, as is Canada. Per capita, I also have more of a chance of being victimized in god-fearing Dallas Texas than where I now live.

North Florida may have more "small towns" but its large towns (which would make the safest lists) do not bear the "more safe than S. Florida" list. Maybe Jacksonville compared to Miami, sure. It's a common theme, however, when people's PERCEPTIONS do not match STATISTICAL REALITY.
