Fla sucks - always was a tourist trap! We lived there from 1980-1992. Now, with the highest unemployment, foreclosures, the state and counties need money from everywhere. Yeah, no income tax - big deal! There's increased taxes and fees on everything. Do yourself a favor and leave Fla to the gators and snakes!

Check Oregon!

I wouldn't say this if you weren't in nursing as jobs are scarce here too.

But nursing is good and this state rocks! Wonderful people, yes a lot of rain, but green and lush with rivers and hotsprings.... my niece from Melbourn Fla wants to move here.

I'm in Nursing, hubby is in technology.

Where to go?

We want wide open spaces, quality people and schools to raise our children....

I've lived here all my life and I'm broken hearted about it, but we're convinced we will just NEVER prosper here
I will be leaving for Las Vegas in October. Literally speaking pastures will not be greener, but metaphorically I am eagerly looking forward to it!

For those that want to leave Florida. Is it the state as a whole that has turned people off, or could it be one's current location? Florida is a huge state and changes rapidly from one area to another. There are many states that people say are so wonderful that one should leave Florida and move there. Let me tell you there is alot more to a state than how pretty it is, and way to many people judge places by physical beauty only.

If I lived in Florida and the lack of winter and state income tax were high on my list of reasons to live there. If that were the case. I would certainly make sure my reasons for my dislike of Florida, didn't have something to do with the region of the state I was living in. I would definitely make sure of that, before I packed up and went thru the outrageous expense of moving elsewhere.

There are many many states with some miserable problems and some really weird politcs. Make sure if you leave Florida, your fully prepared for what may be a whole new set of problems and types of peoples. Let alone climates.

Default Floridian

I have been in Florida since 1981 it has been nice until now...
This year there has not been many jobs at all. I am a certified welder and been in welding and fabrication for over 13 years, and I can not find a job and been look since October when we all were perm. layed off.
I ve been looking for welding jobs outside of Florida and seems like Texas has all the welding jobs.
I am thinking about moving to Houston in July.
I have 7 welding certs, and NCCER cert. and OSHA safty and more. And can not use any of them here. Everyone in Florida has been laying off for over a year and are not hiring now.
Well it will be nice to see something different any way.

Yes a job is a priority in one's life. If jobs are limited in Florida and Texas provides better opportunities, you should look into perhaps moving. I think many people would probably choose where the jobs were. Good Luck. I am sure things will improve for you in Houston.

Yeah for years seems like there were a lot of welding jobs here in Florida, there wasnt much of a problem finding work.
But the last year and a half it has shut the doors of my work and many others.
I is looking very dark and dim here in the SUNSHINE state, the sunshine rapidly going very dim.
Even the larger cities like Jacksonvill,Miami,Tampa,St. Pete,Orlando there are not many jobs.
If anyone is coming to Florida for greener grass, think twice.
