Yes, I agree with you

Sad to say, I have to agree with this. Speeders aren't a problem - until one loses control and slams into you. Same thing with people who run red lights - and there's so much of that here. Or how about the T-bone specials - the wackos who blast out of a side street without even stopping?

Yesterday, even with the slippery wet roads, I saw so much speeding, tailgating and other dangerous behavior, it was appalling.

LOL...here is a very sad thing I was doing, while still living there.
I am a good driver...no, actually a VERY good driver (went to driving school for over 3 months in germany, got my license first time, and cost me $1500....)
Drivers here in the US are totally UNPREDICTABLE, and to many think, that they are training for a F1 race!
And, of course, then there are the so called "need for speed cool dudes", music blasting, and just got done watching the movie "The fast and furious"
After I have witnessed so many people getting t-boned or hit, because people were running stop signs, red lights or taking the "right of way", I have decided to wait on my green light, and count to 10.
You have no idea on how many "still make" the red light!
So, if you are behind me, I don't give a damn, if you are in a hurry...to go no where.
I am preserving my life, waiting for 10 seconds........
It surely makes me sick.....

Make a few calls, open a claim and get it fixed. You shouldnt have to be told by a cop to do so. You will end up with rain, racoons, possibly human rodents etc. in the car. You may or may not have a rental on your policy but they really put glass in quickly these days, and I hope I'm not about to hear "I don't have insurance"

A lot of people don't carry insurance. I don't carry collision on either of my cars. As far as if I am covered for glass, I have no idea, I would have to check.

Full coverage on my SUV, 100 % glass on ALL windows. Just had MY back window (most expensive one on a vehicle, as I was informed) smashed in with a brick, damage was a few bucks shy of $1000. Due to my coverage, insurance paid all of it, and without a deductible!
I am so lucky....and know it....lol

Your window cost as much as some of the cars I drive. My nephew is a dealer and I get trade ins or cars he picks up at the auctions. I drive them for a year or two and usually sell them for at least what I have in them or more. I can honestly say, I haven't spent a cent on the ownership of a car in like 25 years. Even before my nephew was a dealer I bought cars I could have the fun of driving and make money on.

Years ago I read an article in Money magazine. The title was "Drive luxury cars for free". It involved buying collectable and classic cars. I have owned From 65 Mustangs to a Rolls. Our current car is a 1993 Volvo 240 I bought for $1200 at an auction. Although not really a classic they have a cult following and are very marketable. Dealers don't like those kinds of cars because they can be expensive to repair and they are afraid to warrantee them. I even owned a Maserati.

The Volvo even though my wife banged it up a little, it is so nice I can get about $2000 for it just as it sits very easy. I have my nephew on the look out for a nice truck now because I have a use for one. I am not taking advantage of him he gets me stuff he would have no interest in anyway and I give him a few hundred for the favor.

If you live in an area where there are auctions a lot of independent small dealers will take you with them and bid for you for a small fee. I don't think they are supposed to but they all do. No family members of dealers ever pay much for cars. It is best though if you have the interest to start with. I used to like working on cars. I even had a pit in my back yard at my other house. Kids don't seem to work on cars anymore.

I remember when I was like 16 getting a 55 Chevy with a bad motor for $50.00 and nice body and taking the whole body off and swapping on another frame. My friends and I did it in one no sleep stretch. I like what Jay Leno does. He gets cars and takes them down to the frame and rebuilds the whole car back better then when it was new. I honestly thought years ago people would some day be buying cars in kits and building their own cars. I built a Dune Buggy on a VW frame around 1970 and that car is still around town and has been through like 10 owners.

I also rebuilt a 48 Ford pick up about 20 years ago that is still around. If I had the choice between a 55 Chevy and a new Caddy I'll take the 55. You know what's funny, you are not talking big money in many cases. You can buy many restored cars that will be a kick to drive, turn heads and hold their value for like the cost of a Ford Escort. If you get into cars whose wheels never touch the road that is different but cars for driving are not that expensive.
