I'm looking for a rural town/area that is some what cheap to live in, would Wewahitchka fit the bill? I see that it is close to the beach and some other small towns and not too far away from Panama City. I want a place where I could buy a couple of acres and just get some peace and quiet. Any information on the area would be helpful. Thanks. God bless.

I have not been to Wewahitchka in several years, but I think land would be cheaper there than other areas of the panhandle. You would definitely have peace and quiet. Lots of good fresh water fishing. As you stated, only a short drive to Panama City. Also a short drive to the coast (Port St. Joe).

Thank you for the reply. I guess after 45 views and only 1 response, we've got the quiet aspect of Wewa covered.

We briefly lived in PSJ.
I concur with Hiway's description.
Wewa is definitely on the quiet, rural side.
They have a really nice honey festival, too.

Bought a place in wewa almost 2 years ago. Absolutely love it. Hate to leave in the spring for Michigan. Always come back for the tupelo honey festival, best quality belts I can find anywhere. Hope they are still there this year. Everyone seems very friendly and the prices are fair. Not far from the beach or gulf fishing if I tire of the fresh water fishing in the dead lakes. Could use a good restaurant though.
