Hey, does anyone know if developers are still proposing new high rise condos in Florida, and where? I know real estate is slow but has this stopped most new construction? People are still moving here right?
Thanks
Dan

people are still moving to FLA but in many places the market is dead, especially for high priced ocean front high rises.
Here in JAX, there are more than a few high rises recently built that are more than half empty

A company that we do a lot of work for has just gotten a loan to build their mid-rise condo in Delray. So, yes, there are projects that are getting financing.

In West Palm Beach it seems like they start a new residential high rise every week.

In Broward there are projects starting everywhere. There is so much construction going on here it is hard to believe. The city commission just last Wednesday approved a Massive high rise project on Las olas. They turned down an even bigger project just east of the 17th street bridge because they said it will interfere with the view of the ocean but the builders will be back with a new plan and at some point it will happen. This was in todays paper
"Browards median price for existing homes sold in April rose 1 percent to $363,800 from $360,600 a year ago, the Florida Association of Realtors said recently."
I guess someone must be moving here.

Yep. Even Bradenton has an upcoming proposal for 21 and 18 story condos with grocery stores office and retail space. There are a lot of other high-rise condos proposed/approved/under construction in Manatee County. Many more condo towers going up to the south in Sarasota.

Mr. Kelly has started work on a one billion dollar project on the Sarasota city bayfront. Hotel, condos, shops, the gauntlet.

I recently read that Sarasota is also set to get a new Waldorf-Astoria hotel. Lots of $$$ still being pumped into Florida.
