I was just curious, what is the best location (beach preferably) to view the Blue Angels air show from? My family and I are going to be staying in the area during the July show, and we want to make sure we are in a good place to see it. Thanks.

Wherever you wind up, remember lots of sun screen, a hat, umbrella and water! July at the beach can be brutal.

If you get the chance to see an F-22 Raptor show it's stuff... do not miss it! An absolutely incredible aircraft.

Sun screen- check! Umbrella- check! Water- check!

I know it's going to be hot and humid in July (probably not the best time for a beach vacation), but I wanted my son to be able to see the Blue Angels fly. Hopefully I'll get some tips on the best place to watch it from, and we will be set to go.

There really aren't many bad seats on the island for that kind of show. We haven't gone for a couple years because of the traffic is so bad, and that's even using the slightly easier to deal with Navarre Beach bridge and then going west through Gulf Islands instead of crossing the sound at Pensacola Beach/Gulf Breeze.

They use the fishing pier at the main beach (Casino Beach) on Pensacola Beach as their center point, so anywhere along there is perfect. That said, it will be very crowded so you'll have to get there very early. It would be easier to help you choose a location if you tell us where you'll be staying.

And you will not be allowed into the Gulf during the whole performance so make sure you get wet before they start.

The island? This will be my first beach experience, so I'm not really familiar with the area. Thank you for the info.

I should have thought to tell where we are staying! We are actually staying in Alabama, in Lillian.

I didn't know about not being able to cool off during the show, thanks for the info on that. Does anyone know how long the show usually lasts?

The island is Pensacola Beach. You're going to have to get there very early to beat the traffic. If I remember correctly, the show lasts a couple of hours with some other planes flying before the Blues come out.

Very early being around noon, or are we talking in the morning hours early?

Thanks again for all the information!

At noon there will be no parking available on Pensacola Beach. You either have to get there early in the morning or come by boat. The best way to see the show is to rent a place on the beach and stay the night. That way you don't have to fight traffic. Or, you can come down for the practice show the day before.
