Even though these are supposedly farm raised I think this is way over the top as a food offering. I'm a hunter and even I just cannot advocate serving African lion as an exotic food in US resturants.
I was curious, so I did a really marginal amount of searching...found this from Huff Post regarding another restaurant in Mesa that was serving lion burgers for the World Cup. Evidently, exotic meats are a hot trend in AZ. Interesting info about the "lion ranch."
I know that "exotic" foods are common outside of the US, especially in Asian countries. The demand/appetite for some exotic foods contributes to the poaching pressures on some relatively rare wild animals.
Is this "exotic" food option, especially when it comes to mammals and more rare reptiles/fish, seen acceptable in the USA? What if this becomes a trend?
I am not sure that that is an attractive option for dinner, however............
As the range for wild lions continues to decrease, certainly a profit motive for sustaining the species is not a bad idea............
