I think the most common reply would be "more than once a week", and that's certainly mine. I walk to the store, and buy only what I can carry home, so I typically go 2-3 times a week.
I go grocery shopping too much...And I'm not even a big fan of shopping either! Sometimes I "forget" things or sometimes I just want to make something different and don't have the ingredients at home...I probably shop just to get out at times...Just to have something to "do" but it can be boring at times. I'm not really a "big spender." I look for bargains...My husband passed away earlier this year and shopping gets me "out." There's not much to do in this area...My son lives closeby and this is great but we don't have any other family members here...My husband liked to shop a lot more than I do but I try to "stay positive" when I do shop....Cooking keeps me "going" and I have to shop to be able to cook...Some people enjoy shopping and others don't...How do you feel about shopping? Thanks.
We usually go every Saturday or Sunday. If we don't find time, we usually go Monday or Tuesday either on someone's lunch break or in the evening. If we're really busy, sometimes, which sucks, we have to make do until the next weekend. :/
I don't have much by way of food storage, both in terms of freezer/fridge and pantry space, so stocking up in bulk isn't typically a good option. I also have my schedule go awry fairly often due to my private contract tutoring, in addition to my regular full-time job, so meals planned for a given day often get bumped, and I find that when I try to project too far out, I end up with more food spoilage/wastage than if I tend to just buy as I go. Buying what I need in small amounts when I need it seems to ensure, for me, that usage is more efficient/less goes to waste.
I typically stop for groceries at a place that's in between work and home, so going more frequently doesn't really necessitate any extra trips or anything...it's always on the way home.
