I'm sure it's good... however to answer the OP's query... I like sweet potatoes.

I love potatoes.

I put about four of them at a time in the oven, leave them in there for at least two hours, until they almost taste like sugar. Then I eat about a quarter of an unpeeled sweet potato, cold, with lunch. They keep for weeks in the fridge. in a tight container or plastic bag.

Yes, this is the secret to a great sweet potato without all the butter and refined sugar (we can't and don't eat like that). Cook the potato in the oven until it begins to caramelize....they are delicious as is without any addition. My diabetic husband can eat the occasional sweet potato because they are metabolized slower than regular potatoes...he gets a much higher rise in blood sugar with white potatoes.

Roasted sweet potatoes are great too - peel and slice, a tiny bit of olive oil, salt and pepper - yum.

I don't think we've mentioned that they are super good for you...full of nutrition. Always put a sheet or pan of some kind under them when you bake them, or they will drip sticky stuff all over your oven.

Growing up, I always thought I hated sweet potatoes, because my only exposure to them was with a bunch of marshmallow crap on them as a thanksgiving side.

Personally, I prefer sweet potatoes with savory seasonings...served as fries with fresh-cracked black pepper, baked, mashed, and seasoned with garlic and herbs, etc. I don't make them MORE sweet by adding sugars and sugary ingredients.

The 'yellow' potatoes are called sweet potatoes and the red, orange are called yams. They're both sweet potatoes.
