L.A. seems to be saturated with these trucks. I took the plunge and tried the food a few months ago. Now I'm hooked.

My favorite truck is in Pasadena, about a 1/2 mile from the Old Town restaurants zone. It does a hell of a business, staying open until 3:30am on weekends to serve the bar stragglers.

You can get a huge burrito for $4.50, tax included. Al Pastor is my favorite. They have big buckets of self-serve beans, cilantro, radishes, jalapenos, onions (raw and grilled), lemons, diced tomatoes, red sauce, green sauce, and wonderfully lumpy avocado sauce. Everybody is in a festive mood with all the great food, great prices and loads of extras.

This is business done right.

I heard that Santa Ana down in the OC is supposed to the mecca for authentic Mexican lunchero trucks. There's a certain blvd where they all park and you can choose specialties from Puebla at one or from Federale/Mexico City at another or Sinaloa from yet a 3rd, and so on.

Ever tried Kogi's korean taco? They're the original gourmet truck that kicked-off the craze.

There is one, or was one in the next town North of me.
I dont go up that way much so i'm not sure if it's still there or not.
Me thinks it is owned by the folks that own(ed) the little taco stand across the road.
Sadly I have never stopped at either one, I always forget it's there.
That little stand has been home to many things in past years, guess i'm not the only one who forgets it's there.

One of the things I miss about living in Southern California is the ubiquitous and delicious taco truck fare.

Every where in most urban areas of California. Also a lot of rural areas. I was driving through North East California getting to a deer hunting spot last fall and saw some people on horse back stopped at a taco truck in town.

Also in most of the major metro areas its not just Mexican food anymore, Asian, BBQ, desserts, French, Italian, seafood etc.... all sorts of fusion going on. Gotta love this state even if it is run by idiots.

We have trucks in the city (NY). I'm not big on Mexican food so I haven't tried one of them, but I love the chicken and rice from the halal carts.

We don't need taco trucks here we have plenty Mexican restaurants. Lot's of taco joints too! But, recently our city has set up an area north of town especially for these food trucks!
