So I'm sitting here eating a snack and it got me to thinking. What are some store brand items that you prefer over name brand?

What started me to thinking about this:

Kroger Brand dry roasted peanuts. To me they are ten times better than Planters dry roasted. I'm not quite sure why, I think it's the seasoning they use on the peanuts (it has paprika in it).

I bought a jar of the Planters peanuts and I'm sitting here wishing I had the Kroger brand ones.

I really like Aldi's version of Frosted Mini-wheats over Kellogg's. I also like the Big Y's "generic" that they use - I think it's Valu Time?

For sugar, I get Valu Time. Cane sugar is cane sugar - and Big Y's generic is even cheaper than their Big Y brand, let alone Domino.

Most store brand cereals are quite similar if not the same, as brand....I also buy store brand canned goods ie beans etc. from Publix as well as crackers, ice cream, dairy, and paper products.

CVS's peanut butter filled pretzels. Trader Joe's version of the same thing is pretty good, too.

I have always thought the same about Dry goods..
Sugar is sugar and AP flour is the same no matter if it's Dominos or Gold medal.
Same with corn starch, baking powder or soda.

I have also noticed you can get a pre-packagd smithfeild pork product from wal-mart for 30% less then you could get the same thing for at a local place for 30% more...same stuff different store...

Vegi's... Well I have noticed when you get a name brand, canned or frozen you DO get a better quality..
I like Canned Potatos, I always have. Not instant mashed but canned whole little potatos, buying them can be scary unless you get the good brands..

Krogers has a lot of good store brand items. Most, if not all, are made by the name brand companies themselves. People often pay more just for a label.

HEB tortilla chips ("regular" not the flavored kind). All the varieties are good, In fact the no salt ones are better than any no salt brand, and I've tried many. I also like the HEB (not HCF) cola, it tastes like RC but cheaper.

I like getting store brand or generic brand cereals, dairy products, bread and eggs over the name brands. I really can't tell the difference as far as taste and quality, plus I like the fact that I'm saving $$$.
