Most of the honey sold in chain stores across the country doesn't meet international quality standards for the sweet stuff, according to a Food Safety News analysis released this week.
One of the nation's leading melissopalynologists analyzed more than 60 jugs, jars and plastic bears of honey in 10 states and the District of Columbia for pollen content, Food Safety News said. He found that pollen was frequently filtered out of products labeled "honey."

Nowhere in the story does it say (or even suggest) that the honey in the supermarket is not perfectly genuine honey, nor that it was found to fail any test of palatability or safety. All they do is jump onto the lets-bash-China bandwagon, because Chinese imports are cutting into their sales and profits.

Chinese honey has long had a poor reputation in the U.S., where - in 2001 - the Federal Trade Commission imposed stiff import tariffs or taxes to stop the Chinese from flooding the marketplace with dirt-cheap, heavily subsidized honey, which was forcing American beekeepers out of business.
In other words, there is nothing wrong with the honey. They just object to the competition.
Isn't the issue here whether it is actually honey and not some sugar syrup imitation?
There may be fake honey-like substances on the market, but that is not what was being addressed in the OP. US food labeling is pretty strict, and if it's not all real bee-made honey, the label would say so, or face very stiff penalties that would not be worth the deception.
yeah, the article is a joke. instead of providing results for whether or not pollen is in the honey, how about finding results that actually matter? like maybe if there was indeed toxic chemicals or other foreign substances in the honey.

That is the crux of the original OP adulterated honey from unknown sources flowing in, being diluted and diffused into the US honey market.

You still don't get it. Read the first sentence in your own link:
"A third or more of all the honey consumed in the U.S. is likely to have been smuggled in from China and may be tainted with illegal antibiotics and heavy metals."
The operative word there is MAY. Absolutely no evidence that it is tainted, despite intensive efforts to prove it. And not even a suggestion, in the entire article, that even one single container of the product sold in the USA is not genuine unadulterated bee-made honey that perfectly passes every test of consumer safety.
Your link clearly states "despite assurances from the Food and Drug Administration and other federal officials that the hundreds of millions of pounds reaching store shelves were authentic and safe." How much clearer does it have to be before you understand?

I get the point your trying to make. I'm just not playing into it and you can save your underhanded attacks for the P&C forum. I will be more than willing to joust with you there. It's not fear mongering its the truth and a very valid concern that China is subverting our laws to lay off its honey.
