For people who have one, how does the taste of each flavor compare to the store-bought counterparts? I just got one and have tried a few of the samples that came with it. The root beer is great, it tastes like A&W. The cola and diet cola seem less flavorful than Coke, and the orange soda is better than Fanta. What have been your experiences with each flavor?

The best thing... now you should know what's in your soda.

A friend just bought one and I tried the cola. Not bad but missing the astringency of Coke which is why Coke is my favorite over Pepsi.

it seems to me like you don't really know any more with the soda stream than with pre-made sodas. you are still buying the syrup which has the same opportunity to contain mystery ingredients.

You can tell which brand the syrup is imitating by the color of the label. I've enjoyed both the "coke" and "coke zero" syrups ( red label, black label ). I also like the cherry cola. Since even their regular syrups contain Splenda and are only 35 calories per serving, I've decided to stop buying diet syrups.

I have not done a taste test with the real products. I am used to the soda stream syrups, at any rate!

Enjoying some cherry cola right now.

My husband loves the orange soda. I don't like the diet root beer, or the diet lemon lime, which is a big bummer for me.

I agree with you, and like your DH, I also love the orange! The diet lemon-lime is ... strange. We're going to pick up some dry ice to refill our canister this week. First time trying that, eek!

My favorite is the ginger ale. I use Torani syrups for other flavors. I also generally just mix one glass at a time, rather than a full bottle at a time. I have the Penguin one--the bottles are smaller.

Didn't work with my kids. Was neat and fun at first, but the taste wasn't there. I don't drink much pop so it didn't matter to me. Had ours for a good 4 yrs, lasted 6 months before we went back to buy'n it.

I'll sell ya one.

Does anyone know why Coke and Pepsi don't compete for this market by selling small bottles of concentrated syrup? I'd think they would run away with it.
