the "fast food" italian with the all you can eat bread sticks?
i live in west phx and the ones here are still open
i was just in austin/san marcos tx and the one there was open, too
Yep, those are the ones! Man, I miss em! I guess with all the competition from other Italian eateries that they couldnt stay afloat in IL? Just a thought....
Correct me if Im wrong, but werent they owned by Olive Garden? Can anyone back that up?
They are not and never were owned by either Olive Garden (itself a subsidiary of Darden) or McDonald's. They are owned by a private equity group. The McDonald's rumor started because the new CEO of the Fazolis group was once an executive for McDonald's.
We had one in Bristol VA at exit 7 off I-81 and as far as I know its still open, I was never a fan but i'll make it a point of checking next time I go by there.
Actually, they were founded by Jerrico, the original parent company of Long John Silver's (which is now owned by YUM!, the Pepsi spinoff that owns Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, KFC, etc). That was in 1988, and Jerrico sold them in 1990, but lots of people associated them with LSJ for years afterwards.
The firm that owns Fazoli's now, Sun Capital, also just bought Boston Market.
