When I was working I started bringing my lunch to work because I didn't like to drive to local restaurants and eat fast and eat under stress. (Worried about getting back in time!)...I still try to avoid eating under stress if I can! How about you?...When I'm stressed I tend to eat too fast and maybe "too much!" I want to savor my food versus "gobbling" everything down fast due to time constraints. (Or because I waited too long to eat.) How about you? Thanks!

I eat less or just metabolize faster under stress. Either way, I always will have to fight to keep weight oni if I'm super stressed. Some people gain with stress. Funny how it works differently for different people.

I ate out of stress last week, Loaded up on carbs. I ate toasted bread every morning at breaksfast with butter and has pasta everynight for dinner. I was not happy with my weight gain this past Sunday at WW. I never eat that much carbs. Got back on track yesterday and back to my usual yogurt fruit and cereal breakfast. I've lost 44 lbs so far and I don't want to blow it.

Stress hmmmm. when I was a FF/EMT and on call 24hrs in quarters, sometimes I could get a meal in but lots of times it was interrupted. Then when I worked in the ER it was like: take a bit, take care of pt's. , take a bite and back at it....never really had a sit down, meal on a 12 hour shift..just too busy etc. unless I worked the noc shift and after say 3am I might relax for a few minutes.....

Ah what a life...HW

I have found no use for stress. If I could It would be on the market cheap. I have a stress appetizer know as Prevacid and a dessert known as Pepto the Pink Stuff. Nomadicus

Thanks for your posts! I ended up "stuffing my face" a bit last night. (On oatmeal of all things!)...I guess there are times when we just need "something." Oatmeal is better than candy or booze. Right?

I've never eaten much for lunch as it seems stressful time of day. Breakfast is about the same for me. It seems eating most of the time has become stressful for me. I don't eat much.

I have the luxury to take lunch/dinner break whenever I want for so long I want. Since I start work around 10 AM and eat breakfast at home, have fruit and/or yogurt around 2 PM - I usually go eat again at 5-6 PM. So, that's my "dinner". I go to sit down places, order food, eat slowly and when finish, I stay little longer and read a book. That type of break gives me peace and new energy for another couple hours of work.

I try not to eat under stress, though I do it sometimes.

Lately I've been focusing on "stress cooking" because I have roommates who will split the food costs and like whatever I cook. They joke that they can tell my mood if they come home and I've spur of the moment cooked them a multi-course meal. I am at work full time and a part time grad student, so mid-term papers are a whole new level of stress for me - roommates came home to a risotto on Monday. :P

I can shovel when stressed, even things I don't particularly care for, so it's best for me to steer clear of food entirely during those times. DH is the complete opposite. He can't even look at food when stressed, even if it's something he likes.
