Has anything gotten so expensive recently that you've stopped buying it?
I went cold turkey on ice cream a couple years ago, it's gone out of sight. Just about everything in the dairy case, that I've cut back on, like cheese.
Beef liver suddenly doubled about a year ago, so I switched to mostly chicken livers which are still cheap. And I think twice before I get out the bacon.
Nothing, there are always sales and specials throughout the year. However you have to be willing to stockup or buy the industrial size.
Perfect example solid albacore tuna in the can has seen some steady increases the last few years. However Costco just had a sale and the price was what I was paying three years ago. I bought 60 cans. Will last until the Fall/Winter.
I do however have access to probably 30+ different food market/stores within a ten mile radius not including the two farmers markets.
Some areas of the country I understand are limited on their shopping choices.
Did the prices on your frozen chicken quarters go up?
Quality fish used even to be the cheaper option over beef and poultry. These days I look forward to salmon season, but there are no real deals year 'round. Dungeness crab season used to come with low prices too. Not anymore.
It may be that I'm more conscious of price differences that makes me avoid buying certain items nowadays. Squid! Squid is expensive now! Really? Squid? Ditto beef liver. Skirt steak because of the fajita craze. I need to start growing leeks and fennel again too. And shallots while I'm at it.

Yes, bacon is a good example. We buy it only on sale, rarely and just 2 pieces each when we do have it. The other cut back, which is actually healthy is less red meat. We will take an 8 to 12 oz steak and share. We used to eat 8 to 10 oz each...
Other than that I can't think of much, but I may start cutting back on a few other things.
Bacon definitely... we are down to eating it once a week instead of twice.
Either that or we like to switch to scrapple for our weekend (sat & sun) breakfast thingy... when I usually make big breakfast unless having to hurry out like this morn.
Eating more veggies but then again its because its summer & the garden seasons... saving a bunch to buy more quality meat (ribeye my DH loves) that way.
^^^I almost never waste my freezer space buying Ice Cream.
A family hobby to eat ice cream as an "outing". We love our coldstone family nights.
That or DD will make homemade ice cream just for a taste / laugh... portion only big enough for a dessert (DD bakes too) topper.
Add: Peanut Butter is another food item that has seen serious price increase lately...
I use to buy them in a smaller jar, but switch to a bigger jar to save on price.
I haven't stopped buying any particular item .... but... I do compare prices and try to shop where I can find the best price. I don't eat bacon on a regular basis, but do use it for cooking... and that is one item I have really noticed the price increase on.
I do end up buying the generic/store brand on more items than I used to, as long as its something where I consider the quality to be acceptable.
I guess my approach is to save where I can so I can spend more for items I really want - such as ice cream. I also plan to make more ice cream this summer, not sure if that will end up saving me any money though....
Cooking Oil, Butter & such has also increased quite a bit.
But these you can use in smaller portion... not cut out totally.
