My mom does. She got her recipe from her Old World Italian mother.

Me, I save the hamburger for the final product.

Typically, I don't add ground meat to my sauce. When I do want to add meat, I usually add Italian sausage, but typically I make the sauce vegetarian.

I usually use a canned sauce and add basil, oregano, garlic and lots of vegetables (peppers, mushrooms and thinly sliced carrots). I usually let my sauce simmer for a couple hours when I can (cooking actually increases the lycopene content of the tomatoes in the sauce, so it's more nutritious that way).

Mmmm... this thread is making me hungry. I know what I'm making for dinner tonight
