I think of the movie sling blade. I was at the dollar tree tonight getting some treats like candy's and snacks to send to my nieces at college and I saw cans of it. Is it any good?
Potted meat can be a lot of different things, but it looks like you're talking about the Armour or Hormel canned potted meat. Those are basically a low end pate, made from meat scraps that are mechanically removed from the the carcasses of chickens, with maybe some beef organ meat tossed in. They add some spices and curing salt to it and then cook it. It's not awful, but also nothing to write home about.
Sometimes people refer to Confits or Rillettes as potted meats, but they're more of a true pate - just a bit chunkier. They can be incredibly delicious.
My wife likes Deviled Ham, and other potted meat products, even after I tried to tell her what goes in it. As for me...Gag a maggot! I would only eat it if there was NOTHING else to eat.
Oh, probably just one of the greatest food inventions in the UNIVERSE.......no biggie!
Delicious ground and congealed animal.....stuffed into a can, add salt, and then YUMMO!
