I'm 66 years old and never had a full cup of coffee! I just can't stomach it literally as I run to the bathroom within minutes of a sip. I get nauseated going down the coffee aisle in the grocery store when somebody is grinding the stuff.
I know I'm in the minority in the world. I'm wondering how much money a coffee drinker spends on this beverage per month. Please break it down into Outside the home purchases and In home consumption. Just curious how much money I'm saving so I don't feel guilty about my plant purchases each spring and fall.
Probably just a few dollars. Sorry to burst your bubble. A can of coffee from Costco is $12-ish (been going up and down lately), lasts about a month for both my husband and I. Neither of us purchases coffee otherwise.

Let's say I buy a $2 coffee every working day which is $10 per week x 4 weeks = $40 a month. Who cares? The idea that you might save $500 per year just by cutting out coffee sounds enticing, but there is a time value for money. People really don't miss $2 per day and don't want to have to wait 364 days to spend $500 dollars. I'll take my vices now please.
Coffee drinkers pay different amounts and drink different amounts. I am a big coffee drinker but rarely stop at a Starbucks or other "Coffee House". My daily coffee consumption is at home and I probably drink what equals one - two pots of coffee per day.
My thought is though if you feel "Guilty" about buying bulbs or whatever it is that you enjoy you should figure out why you feel guilty. The only way I would ever feel guilty about a purchase is if I did not pay a bill to make that purchase. Otherwise, why feel guilty about spending your money your way and enjoying what you purchased.
Coffee at work is free, and I drink a cup or two of that every day. When I buy coffee for home and the half-and-half that goes with it, it probably costs me $10/month, maybe less. A small can of coffee will last me a month. Every so often I'll get a Starbucks drink, (curse you, gingerbread latte!) but that's not very often.

You hadn't planned a trip to Europe? You weren't going to buy a Porsche? THAT'S NOT THE POINT! The point is that you didn't spend that money.
Yes, that's my way of rationalizing many purchases. It works well. You're welcome.
Locally roasted whole bean coffee by the pound @ 2 lbs/month = $20 (includes work and home)
Occasional latte/cappuccino @ $4 x about 5 = $20
Creamer for both work and home = maybe $10
About 20 bucks for my family of four. Thankgoodness my college student moved out. That girl could drink some coffee.
We buy our own beans at Costco and grind them at home.
