Delivery drivers usually have to pay for their own gas. With that in mind, I tip them at least 20%. Waiters and waitresses don't have to pay for any gas and many people tip them 15-20% or even more. I would tip $8 for a $35 delivery.
Saw this on the net. It might be somewhat of a good example??
15% for normal service, with a $2 minimum; 20% for excellent service; 10% or less for poor service; at least 10% for orders of $50 or more.
My take on How Much to Tip the Delivery Guy/Gal:
There are so many factors that go into it. If you have a decent size order and the place is within a mile or two of your house, I can see 10% being enough – but I’d never go under that. And if it is more than a few miles and a small order, under $10 or so, I’d probably go up to 20% (but probably not more than that).

Wow, I feel bad. Now I tipped the guy $4. I think thats around 15-18%.
No, that's only 11.4%
There are many ways to calculate a tip, including reaching for the calculator in your cell phone. Here's a simple way to get in the right area even if you're "under the influence."
Take 1/10 of the bill, that's 10% $35 x 10% is $3.50 (Consider that an absolute minimum, even if service was lacking)
Double that, you get 20%. $3.50, X2 = $7
So $7 would be a generous tip, and walking back a little from there $6 would be a good tip, and $5 an ok tip.
But if you used your calculator, or a tip card (available at any office supply or stationary store), you'd see that $5.25 is right in the middle at 15%.
