More than 1/2 the calories in that pie comes from fat. It's like eating 400 calories of flour and chicken and veggies with 6 tablespoons of butter on top. That.. is not healthy, HA. Yes. I ate the whole pie. When we were kids, I remember eating the smaller ones. Everybody could choose if they wanted chicken, or beef or turkey. Stringier chicken or turkey may never exist, that once was not part of a $.25 cent pot pie. (I think they were 4 for a dollar back in the day.)
Couple nights ago I 'cooked' one for my husband, the beef one. I bought them for those nights I don't want to cook or it's too hot to cook. He likes them, likes meat, and doesn't worry about microwaved food. We are opposites in that dept. I won't eat from the microwave and don't eat processed food.
He thought it was great!

Maybe 1975? My mother used to make them occassionally when I was a kid. They were disgusting and I swore that I would never eat them again. It was around the same time that I swore off milk. I probably haven't drank a glass of milk in more than 35 years.
Every once in a blue moon I get nostalgic for one. Stouffer's makes a pretty good frozen one. Though nothing tops a homemade turkey pot pie after Thanksgiving.
In Ohio, I used to get potpies from The West Point Market, because they were so fabulous. I'm sure they must be made with lard and all the best ingredients. Now, once in awhile I get Marie Callender. They are OK, but only for something different.
