What spices that may have secondary first aid uses would be good to have in the kitchen?

This weekend, I was on a camp out and one of the dogs got into something. I think he is all right now but at one point, it was asked if I had peppermint.......which I didn't.....so I need to add that to my spice rack.

I have cayenne, of course and other common things like garlic, but I guess I should be carrying more. I know fresh is best but even store bought could have some use, right?

So what else should I have?

Tumeric is good for you as well as apple cider vinegar with the "mother" in it.

Dogs can benefit with ACV as well. Bathing them in diluted ACV helps with their coat and skin and fleas hate it; putting a tsp in wild bird water (their bird bath) helps keep them healthy; it is great for your own scalp and hair..and yes, you smell like salad dressing until it dried then no odor at all but you will love your hair!
Lots of things you can learn from that last link (earth clinic).

It's not a spice, but witch hazel comes to mind; of course a witch's kitchen should have witch hazel! (Note there are some limitations with it regarding pets due to alcohol that's in commercial brands.) Also honey, the aforementioned cider, other things that aren't necessarily spices, like aloe, tea tree oil (both topical use only for pets). Wikipedia actually has a good list of plants used in herbal medicine here that will give you ideas.

(I know you're a responsible pet owner, OP, but for the masses who may otherwise read this: anyone planning to use herbal or homemade treatments with pets should first research to see if they're safe for said pets!)

I love the idea of stocking a witch's kitchen. Consider a witch's herb garden, too, if you haven't started one already!

Dogs don’t get sunburned, but people sure do, & white vinegar is amazing for cooling down sunburn pain..trust me, I’m a former sun-worshipper. Soak a clean dish cloth in it & hold in place.

Or pour a bit in the tub and soak.

And yes, dogs get sunburned if they are white or tan.

Organic apple cider vinegar is good for lowering blood sugar, and helps aid is weight loss. Mustard is good if you get leg and toe cramps. just take 2 Tsp. and the cramp is gone in a few minutes. Works for me.
