A fantastic hole in the wall joint that may only cost $5 for an outstanding meal that may only be comprised of 3 or 4 ingredients done really well or a fantastic fine dinning place with an innovative menu, highly trained chef, and foods you've never tried before, but all coming with a hefty price tag.

The best meals I have EVER had have been, for the most part, in places that most folks would be afraid to go in, either afraid of germs or because they looked like dives. The Court of Two Sisters in New Orleans is one exception - I never miss going there when I'm in NO.
It's not because of the price, it's because of the food. Always.
I like both. One of our favorite hole in the walls is Huck a Poos on the way to Tybee Island, GA...$2 beer, $15 pizza, or $7 loaded nachos. A rating on health inspections.

I dig places to dine that are like most of the places previewed on the TV show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives." If I can't wear my Levis into a place then it's likely I'm not headed there.

Fine dining on rare occassions, maybe once or twice a year, otherwise give me the yummy hole in the wall. They have the ethnic foods I love or a good, cheap steak without the frills. How about the bar where everybody knows your name. We used to have place in Alexandria, Va. It was between the two, no, not a hole in the wall, but small and not particularly expensive. In fact we had our son's rehearsal dinner there. I used to go for lunch a couple times a week and when we had out of town company. The people were friendly, the menu small, but good and the service always dependable. It wasn't the best Italian food in the dC area, I am sure, but our favorrite. I have never found a place we liked as well.
As long as it is clean, I enjoy hole in the wall places better, although sometimes I am in the mood for getting dressed up and fine dining.
